Sustainable Communities and Climate Protection Act (SB 375)

In 2008, the Sustainable Communities and Climate Protection Act (SB 375) was passed.  It supports AB 32 goals by promoting good planning and more sustainable communities.

SB 375 requires regional GHG emission reduction targets for cars and light trucks, with targets for 2020 and 2035 in each region covered by one of the State’s 18 metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs).   MPOs further must demonstrate how emissions will be reduced via coordinated land use, transportation, and housing decisions and planning.
